Below you will find a checklist of everything that you need to do to secure your spot at VU:
Send in your Enrollment Deposit and Housing Forms
Ready to make VU your home? After you've been accepted, the next critical step is to send in your enrollment deposit along with the housing forms found in your acceptance packet. It is important that you submit it right away to secure your spot at Vanguard, hold your financial aid and your housing (if on campus)! This deposit is non-refundable after May 1 for Fall term applicants, and December 1 for Spring term applicants. Fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Now that you are accepted our next step is to begin processing your financial aid application so that you can be awarded. If you have not filed the FAFSA you must do so in order to be awarded any need-based financial aid, including the Stafford or Plus Loan. You can start filling out the FAFSA on January 1st. March 2nd is the priority deadline for financial aid; however, we are still able to process financial aid after this date. Our title 4 code is 001293 -- you will need this when filling out the FAFSA. Sign and Accept your Financial Aid Award Letter
Once your file has been complete, the Financial Aid Office will mail you a financial aid award letter. The Financial Aid Office begins sending out the financial aid award letters in April. Your Admissions Counselor is available if you have any questions when you receive it. Please make a copy of the award letter before you send it back to VU. In order for VU to secure your financial aid you must send in your $400 Enrollment deposit and accept your offer by returning your signed award letter within 21 days after receiving it. Some students will also be selected for verification. If you are selected, the financial aid office will send you Document Request Forms to fill out in addition to your award letter.
Academic Registration
Starting in May, if you have sent in your $400 Enrollment Deposit and housing forms, the Admissions Office will send you an academic registration packet. All new students will register for their classes online using the instructions in the academic registration packet. Remember -- the sooner you register for classes, the higher priority you will have in choosing your classes.
Financial Registration
Your final step before arriving at VU is to financially register. This must be done by August 15th (athletes involved in fall semester sports need to complete financial registration by August 10th before they are allowed to practice). After you are academically registered a Bursar statement will be mailed to you with your payment options starting in July.
