Vanguard University of Southern California

HomeLeadership Team of Floor Moms & Sisters

It is my privilege to introduce you to our Floor Moms and Sisters Ministry here at Vanguard University. Our teams consist of volunteers from the faculty, staff, alumni and spouses of the Vanguard community. Originally, we began back in the fall of 1995 as Protege', a mentoring program for incoming Freshmen women sponsored by the Faculty/Staff Women's Association. The program has consistently grown and flourished, stepping out on its own in the spring of 1999 as a volunteer ministry of Student Life.

Our program consists of 7 teams of women who volunteer to support, pray for, encourage, mentor, plan events and activities for the Freshmen women on each floor of the dorms. Together with each Resident Assistant, they try to alleviate many of the fears and frustrations living on campus for the first time can bring.

Each team consists of 4 - 5 persons who meet a couple of times during the summer months to get to know one another, share ideas, and begin planning for the coming academic year. The spirit of community among the volunteers fosters a link that brings together the various administrative and academic departments with alumni and spouses that don't often have the opportunity to cross paths or work together. These teams work on all kinds of events including intercessory prayer for each girl, remembering birthdays and planning events that bring them off campus for some much appreciated "comforts of home" be it a movie night, home cooked meal, or holiday party. Each of these opportunities bless the female students often in life changing ways.
