Youth and Children

  • Brave Hearts

    • Brave Hearts is a club for girls (Kindergarten through 12th grade) that gives then the opportunity to develop relationships with other girls and supportive, Christian women in a fun atmosphere.   • Calicinto Ranch

    • Calicinto Ranch is a children's camp that works with Prison Fellowship Ministries to become known as an official campsite for Angel Tree Camping, hosting children with an incarcerated parent. www.calicintoranch.com
  • City Lights Dream Center

    • City Lights Youth Center is an opportunity for youth and their families to discover their vision and unique purposes such that they experience God's plan for them with passion, fun, and excitement. They reach youth in the community through: Bible studies, Fellowship, Sports, Education, and Missions. They currently need people to build a worship team, tear down and set up, and to be mentors. www.citylightsdreamcenter.com

  • House of Hope

    • The House of Hope is a battered women's shelter in Santa Ana under the direction of the Orange County Rescue Mission. Vanguard students prepare meals, entertain children, and serve te women and children in any ways needed. Both females and mailes are welcome to come serve.   • Kid Works

    • Kid Works seeks to restore at-risk neighborhoods through serving, learning, and connecting with the community of Central Santa Ana. Ther are many opportunities to volunteer such as becoming a tutor, a mentor, and voluteering for Youth Works.  www.kidworksonline.org
  • Lighthouse Community Center

    • The Lighthouse Learning Center exists to help the community of Minnie Street to reach their dreams and hopes for the future. Volunteer opportunities  include tutoring, helping with youth groups, and other children's ministries. www.marinerslighthouse.org
  • MIKA CDC

    • MIKA CDC is a Christ-centered organization that seeks to build communities and serve lower income neighborhoods in Costa Mesa. www.mikacdc.com
  • Miracles in Motion

    • Miracles in Motion is a ministry to motel families at the Costa Mesa Motor Inn. There are several opportunities to volunteer to help with the weekly and monthly activities with the families living in the motel including tutoring, bible studies, and monthly birthday parties for all the kids. www.marinerslighthouse.org/mim/ 
  • Oasis

    • Oasis works in some of the poorest communities of inner cities such as Los Angeles and around the world. They work especially with children and youth and specialize in Technology training. www.oasisusa.org
  • OC Youth Commission

    • OC Youth Commission provides inner city children and youth with tutoring/homework assistance, sports programs, and biblically based character education. www.ocyouthcommission.com
  • Save Our Youth (SOY)

    • Save Our Youth (SOY) is a violence prevention center serving at-risk youth in Costa Mesa. SOY’s objectives are to decrease gang participation, lower the drop-out rate among Latino youth, discourage teenage pregnancy, encourage the pursuit of higher education, raise self-esteem, develop life skills, and especially, to prevent violence. www.save-our-youth.org
  • THINK Together

    • THINK Together's mission is to provide all young people with support they need from family, school and community to enable them to reach their full potential and become productive adults and responsible contributing member of the community. Shalimar Teen Center is a center ran under THINK Together.www.thinktogether.org
  • Wilson St. Learning Center

    • The WSLC is an after-school learning center in the city of Costa Mesa. The WSLC is operated by Harbor Christian Fellowship and provides tutoring, homework help, a daily-nutritional snack, and acedemic support for children in grades 1-12.   • Young Life

    • Young Life is a non-denominational Christian ministry that seeks to build relationships with adolescents through volunteers, club meetings, and camps with the ultimate goal to bring them the message of Jesus Christ. www.younglife.org

 

Homeless and Street Ministries

  • FISH

    • FISH is an organization that seeks to reduce the homeless population by helping the working poor and underemployed before they become homeless or hungry. www.fishharbor.org 
  • Habitat for Humanity

    • The mission of Habitat for Humanity is, through God's love, to build and renovate affordable housing with volunteers and responsible families in need. www.habitatoc.org
  • Loaves and Fishes

    • Loaves and Fishes is a non-profit, volunteer driven agency fulfilling a basic need by feeding the hungry. Their vision is that all people, regardless of socioeconomic, cultural or ethnic backgrounds deserve to meet their basic needs for food, dignity and respect. www.loavesandfishes.org
  • Mercy House

    • Mercy House provides housing and comprehensive support services for a variety of homeless populations that includes families, adult men and women, mothers and their children, persons living with HIV/AIDS, individuals overcoming substance addictions, and some who are physically and mentally disabled.www.mercyhouse.net 
  • New Life Men's Shelter

    • This shelter reaches out primarily to homeless men between the ages of 18 and 65. They come from backgrounds that include: substance abuse, criminal activity, educational failure, medical issues, probation, and incarceration.   • OC Food bank

    • Community Action Partnership of Orange County Food Bank is a non-profit organization that distributes 17 miliion pounds of food anually and provides food and personal care items to 300 non-profit service organizations. http://www.orangecountyfoodbank.com/ 
  • Orange Coast Interfaith Center

    • The mission of Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter is to change the lives of homeless families by providing them with the encouragement and the tools for achieving self-sufficiency. www.ocinterfaithshelter.org 

  • OC Rescue Mission

    • OC Rescue Missions seeks to "minister the love of Jesus Christ to the Least, the Last, and the Lost of our community through the provision of assistance in the areas of guidance, counseling, education, job training, shelter, food, clothing, health care and independent living communities." www.rescuemission.org  
  • Qoheleth Ministries

    • Qoheleth Ministries includes a large-scale food distribution project every 2nd Saturday of the month in Costa Mesa California, as well as regular personal trips throughout the week to provide for those in need. www.qohelethministries.com
  • The Salvation Army in Compton

    • This center serves the communities of Compton, North Carson, Lynwood, and East Gardens by providing youth activities, sports, after school programs, and it also provides a social services program and a children's performing arts program that serves children, adults, seniors and the homeless. www.salvationarmy-compton.org
  • Someone Cares Soup Kitchen

    • Someone Cares Soup Kitchen serve 250-300 meals a day to those in need and also offers a tutoring program for local children grades kindergarten through third grade. www.someonecaressoupkitchen.com 
  • Working Wardrobes

    • Working Wardrobes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping men, women and at risk teens enter the workforce with a major boost to their confidence and self – esteem. www.workingwardrobes.org

  • Senior Meals and Services

Environmental  

  • Earth Resource Foundation

    • Earth Resource Foundation (ERF) is an environmental educational non-profit organization developed to empower the general public with the resources needed to make environmentally sustainable choices and changes. www.earthresource.org
  • Environmental Resource Center

    • The ENC is a combination of 14 California native plant communities, wildlife habitats, and walking trails and seeks to provide opportunities for increasing our community's knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the natural world. www.encenter.org
  • Talbert Nature Preserve

    • Talbert Nature Preserve is a park that operates regional recreational facilities and manages historical and natural resources. www.ocparks.com/talbert
  • Upper Newport Bay

    • Upper Newport Bay seeks to Restore and preserve the native habitat of the Bay and surroundings.  They also want to educate the public about the ecological value of the Bay and achieve good water quality, healthy native flora and fauna, and compatible public use of a protected ecosystem in a dense urban environment. www.newportbay.org
