Graduation Requirements


All students who will be completing the requirements for their degree must complete an Application for Graduation. This is necessary regardless of participation in Commencement. Please view the degree requirements for VU to make sure you are ready to graduate.

Application for Graduation Deadlines for May 2010*

 

Graduate January 15, 2010 - Turn in to your Graduate Program Coordinator
School for Professional Studies February 1, 2010 - Turn in to the Office of the Registrar

Traditional Undergraduate

December 1, 2009 - Turn in to the Department of your major


*All December 2009 Graduates must apply by Thursday, September 2, 2009. Summer graduates who do not wish to participate in Commencement must apply by Monday, May 10th.

Commencement

Commencement Information can be found at www.vanguard.edu/commencement.

  • Students who have not received "Approved" Status by March 25th may not be eligible to participate in Commencement.
  • Students may only have a maximum of 4 units outstanding that must be taken in the summer following Commencement in order to participate in Commencement ceremonies. 
  • All students planning to participate in Commencement need to attend Commencement Practice on Friday, May 7th, 3:00pm at the Pacific Amphitheater.

Honors (all undergraduate programs)

In order to have honors at Commencement, students must complete 36 units at Vanguard by the end of the Fall Semester. Students who have completed 36 units and a GPA of 3.9 or above as of the Fall Semester will be given gold cords to wear at Commencement. As long as the student completes 45 units at Vanguard when their degree is posted, they are eligible to receive honors on their transcript and diploma.

Magna Cum Laude 3.7 GPA*
 Summa Cum Laude 3.9 GPA*


*GPA only includes Vanguard units; off campus units do not affect GPA.
