VUSC is blessed to be located in the vicinity of a number of choice bike trails. A favorite of many bike enthusiasts is the Back Bay Trail,which takes a person through the Back Bay wet lands to Newport Beach and Balboa Island or along the Pacific Coast Highway. Also,one may choose to travel the opposite direction to Irvine where the bike trail passes the University of California, Irvine campus. Other trails lead to Huntington Beach along the Santa Ana River Trail or North past Angel Stadium. If you wish to take advantage of these trails and keep your bike on campus you must register your bike. For your convenience, Campus Safety Services has established a partnership with the National Bike Registry. Stop by the Campus Safety Office located on the first floor of Huntington Hall to receive information on this valuable program. Or you may visit the Costa Mesa Police Department to register your bike. We highly recommended that you always lock your bike when not in use with a titanium type lock as these have proven most successful in deterring thieves. Also, lock your bike through the frame of your bike and not through the front tire.
Use of in-line skates, skateboards, roller skates, scooters, and bicycles must be done without compromising the safety of pedestrians. The use of in-line skates, skateboards, roller skates, scooters, and bicycles are prohibited inside buildings, elevators, courtyards, on sidewalks or next to buildings. Riders of in-line skates, skateboards, scooters, and roller skates shall refrain from riding on railings, benches, decks, ramps, stairs, or otherwise damage VUSC property. Riders are responsible for the damage that is caused by misuse of VUSC property. Riders should use caution and maintain a safe speed and distance from buildings and pedestrians. VUSC is not responsible for injuries suffered while riding in-line skates, skateboards, roller skates scooters, and bicycles on campus.
The City of Costa Mesa requests that members of the VUSC community not ride their skateboards and rollerblades in the City's parking lot. Those violating the City's instructions are subject to a fine as posted by the City of Costa Mesa.
