Carlos Fernandez, Pastor of Worship Ministries, Bill Dogterom, Interim University Pastor, Megan McDanel, Coordinator of Community Integration, a team of Student Interns, and team of Worship Leaders comprise the Spiritual Formation Department. They are committed to encouraging spiritual growth for each member of the Vanguard community in an atmosphere of refuge, worship, challenge and accountable relationships. We do this through the discovery of Biblical truths, involvement in prayer, celebration of worship and small group relationships.

Chapel services are designed for students, along with faculty, staff and administration, to regularly come together as a community for celebration, truth, and rest. Other Spiritual Formation opportunities include the Shine Service, Prayer Movement, small groups, and personal spiritual direction.

It is our prayer that your time at Vanguard will be filled with the presence and purposes of God. We are here to serve you in your walk with Jesus Christ and look forward to the opportunity of getting to know you. Please stop by and see us!

The Spiritual Formation offices are located in the Needham Chapel Courtyard. Come by and say hello!

Abandoned to Grace

The idea - the image - of grace -  as common and as unknowable as any in the disciple's dictionary. Initially grace is what we fall back upon when we have realized we are not adequate for our own lives, let alone our life's longings. It is what we come to when all that we have and are isn't enough. But it is so much more - and other - than that. The more we grow in Christlikeness, the more we mature into Him, the more grace we need. We discover that grace is not just about beginning, not just about rescue, but it is about life. And then, we are changed. From grace to grace - glory to glory. Grace gives us our life.

Chapel this year will provide station stops on the journey of a lifetime - exploring grace that redefines our very existence, grace that gives us hope for today and tomorrow, grace that is enough for all that we bring to the table.  So, join us in the journey - join us in the dance of graced life.
