It has been almost 50 years since they were students at Vanguard University (then Southern California College) but alumni from the 1960’s know how to keep the Vanguard spirit alive.
The weekend of September 11 - 13th was one of fun and reminiscing for SCC’s 1960’s alumni. Alums gathered for a great time of renewing friendships and fellowship with over 170 former classmates and their guests who came from all over the nation for the reunion at Rancho Capistrano Retreat Center in San Juan Capistrano.
“It was a wonderful time for the alums to reminisce about their time at SCC. The legacy of our great University is rich with history. Our alumni are evidence to the power that faith and learning can have. It was a pleasure to host the event,” says director of alumni relations, Heather Clements.
Volunteers Vonnie Franks ’65, Dianne (Myers ’64) Haneke and Sharon “Smitty” (Smith ’63) Saalinger did a great job organizing the reunion. Activities included singing old hymns and looking through Southern California College yearbooks. President Carol Taylor, provost Jeff Hittenberger, Craig Young, interim vice president for university advancement also attended the reunion and were thrilled to meet so many of the University’s outstanding alumni.
